R & R Houseboat Rentals is located a short distance north of Bobcaygeon, Ontario in the Kawartha Lakes region in south-central Ontario. As the central region of the Trent-Severn Waterway. The beautiful Kawarthas consists of over 250 lakes and winding rivers that provide year-long recreational activities.

The beautiful Trent-Severn Waterway winds its way from the Bay of Quinte (Trenton) on Lake Ontario to Georgian Bay. Offering a unique opportunity to experience the history of the area, the lakes and rivers feature over 40 locks including the impressive and historic Kirkfield Lock #36.

R&R Houseboat Rentals are known for their excellent and friendly service and the only company to offer a fully wheelchair accessible boat to accommodate a 32” wheelchair. With so many locks to explore and maneuver lock passes are included in your rental.

At night you will be able to anchor in a bay or on an abandoned shoe line. You can also stay at the dock where you picked up the boat free of charge. If you want to stay at any of the locks or marinas there is a charge and you should call ahead for availability.



Houseboats:

R&R Houseboat Rentals offers five models to choose from including a wheelchair accessible/modified boat. Each houseboat includes:

  • Fully-equipped kitchen that includes a stove, oven, refrigerator, utensils, dishes, glassware, pots & pans
  • Bathroom with toilet, shower and sink
  • AM/FM CD radio
  • Dining area
  • BBQ
  • Lawn chairs
  • Shore power cable
  • Safety equipment
  • Flybridge on all boats excepts the 31’

Rental Periods:
  • 3 day weekend
  • 4 day midweek
  • 7 day weekly

Experience Required:

Experience or a Pleasure Craft Operator’s Card is not required. You will be provided orientation training and will be issued a temporary license valid for the duration of the rental period. The person renting and operating must be 25 years of age or older and hold a valid driver’s license.


Licensing:

You do not require a boating license (Pleasure Craft Operator Card) to rent a houseboat. Prior to departure you will be provided a safety checklist for review. Be sure to ask any questions if you are not sure. Once completed you will be issued a temporary license that is good for your trip. You will need to keep this document readily available if request by officials.

Electrical Outlets:

As with many houseboats there are not electrical outlets available for small appliances. If you need to charge any devices a cigarette lighter device is available. You will need to bring your own inverters.

Linens:

Linens are not included. You will need to bring your own or sleeping bags.


Pets:

Yes, additional $75 cleaning fee will be applied. While your boat is unattended all pets must be crated. Crates are not supplied and you are required to bring your own.


Additional Costs:

There are a number of additional costs that you should budget for during your vacation and will depend on the duration of your trip and the distance traveled. Each operator has different policies and should be discussed directly with them. Some costs to will or may include:

  • Fuel
  • Oil
  • Propane (Included)
  • Pumpout ($20)
  • Insurance

Other Rental Items Available:
  • Generator rentals are available on a daily basis
  • Canoes are available for rent for $10 per day.
  • Also available are kayaks and jet skis.
