Nipawin, is located in north-east Saskatchewan on the Saskatchewan River located between Codette Lake and Tobin Lake which is actually a reservoir formed on the Saskatchewan River in 1963.

The area provides many outdoor activities and is perfect for the back to nature vacation. Tobin Lake is home to several species of fish including walleye, sauger, yellow perch, lake sturgeon, northern pike to mention only a few.

 

 

 



Houseboats:

Aurora Houseboats have three models to choose from to suit your needs that operate from mid-May to mid-September. The largest houseboat sleeps 12 with three double beds in two private staterooms and one penthouse and 1.5 bathrooms. Sleeper 12 boats include:

  • full size oven/stove
  • refrigerator
  • microwave
  • slide
  • hot tub
  • BBQ
  • fly bridge

The mid-size houseboat sleeps 10 with one double beds in the penthouse, bunk beds in a private room and foldout couches, and 1 bathroom. Sleeper 10 boats include:

  • oven/stove
  • refrigerator
  • microwave
  • slide
  • BBQ

The smallest of the models sleeps 8 with foldout couches converting into beds, and 1 bathroom. Sleeper 8 boats include:

  • oven/stove
  • refrigerator
  • microwave

In addition to the above all boats are equipped with:

  • 37 litres (10 gallons) drinking water
  • cooking utensils

Experience Required:

Previous experience is not required. You will be provided an orientation and a temporary boater’s card for the length of your trip. You must be at least 21 years of age to rent and operate the houseboat.


Licensing:

You do not require a boating license (Pleasure Craft Operator Card) to rent a houseboat. Prior to departure you will be provided a safety checklist for review. Be sure to ask any questions if you are not sure. Once completed you will be issued a temporary license that is good for your trip. You will need to keep this document readily available if request by officials.

Electrical Outlets:

All boats are equipped with generators for 110 power

Linens and pillows are not provided, you will need to bring your own.


Pets:

Pets are not allowed.


Additional Costs:

There are a number of additional costs that you should budget for during your vacation and will depend on the duration of your trip and the distance traveled. Each operator has different policies and should be discussed directly with them. Some costs to will or may include:

  • Fuel
  • Propane (applicable to the 12 sleeper)
  • Insurance

Area Activities:

You will be able to enjoy other activities such as camping and golfing but if you enjoy fishing this is the area to be! Tobin lake is well known for the cleanest, safest fresh water fish in North America .... and best tasting!
