Egan Houseboat Rentals is a family run business for over 40 years in the Kawarthas. Operating from their own marina, Egan Houseboat Rentals has the largest fleet of smaller style houseboats designed for the local waters. Egan Houseboat Rentals is located in Kawartha Lakes, Ontario at the bottom of Pigeon Lake and a short drive from Toronto.

Located in the Kawartha Lakes region in south-central Ontario you will be able to enjoy relaxing while you boat through the Kawarthas and Trent-Severn Waterway. The beautiful Kawarthas consists of over 250 lakes and winding rivers that provide year-long recreational activities. Houseboating in the Kawarthas provides the opportunity to discover at your own pace secluded bays and relaxation.



Houseboats:
Egan Houseboat Rentals offers easy to handle smaller style houseboats designed for the local waters. Two models are available that include a 40’ (6 adults max) or a 32’ boat (6 adults max). Each houseboat includes:
  • Fully-equipped kitchen that includes a stove, oven, refrigerator, utensils, dishes, glassware, pots & pans and a coffee pot
  • Bathroom with toilet, shower and sink
  • Furnace
  • Dining area
  • AM/FM/CD player
  • BBQ
  • Flybridge
  • Deck chairs
  • Shore power
  • Safety equipment

Rental Periods:
  • 3 day Weekend
  • 4 day mid-week
  • 7 day weekly

Experience Required:
Previous experience is not required. You will be provided a comprehensive audio visual training program, available on-line, that fully explains everything you need to know. Minimum age of 22 with a valid Driver’s License to rent a houseboat

Licensing:

You do not require a boating license (Pleasure Craft Operator Card) to rent a houseboat. Prior to departure you will be provided a safety checklist for review. Be sure to ask any questions if you are not sure. Once completed you will be issued a temporary license that is good for your trip. You will need to keep this document readily available if request by officials.

Electrical Outlets:
As with many houseboats there are minimal electrical outlets available for small appliances. If you need to charge any devices a cigarette lighter device is available. You will need to bring your own inverters. Once the shore power is connected you will have access to electricity.

Linens:
Linens are not provided however available for rent. Linen rental for $50 + tax per bed (2 people per bed includes 2 sheets, 1 comforter, 2 pillows, 2 pillow cases, 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels, 2 face cloths) (1 person per bed includes 2 sheets, 1 comforter, 1 pillow, 1 pillow case, 1 bath towel, 1 hand towel, 1 face cloth)

Pets:
Pets are not allowed for sanitary and allergic reasons.

Additional Costs:
There are a number of additional costs that you should budget for during your vacation and will depend on the duration of your trip and the distance traveled. Each operator has different policies and should be discussed directly with them. Some costs will or may include:
  • Fuel
  • Oil
  • Propane
  • Lock fees
  • Dockage
  • Pumpout
  • Insurance
